i understand the concept of blipping the throttle but i could use a little more help. Is there a specific gear that you use that on?

Re: blip?
maybe i wasn't clear enough. when is it best to blip the throttle? on cornering , or coming to a stoplight...i tried it a couple of times riding hard to a stoplight and i shifted but instead of the engine sounding smooth slowing down, my biked jerked forward a felt like it went kwicker. am i trippin or am i not getting it rite?

Are you serious.... you don't want to upset your suspension in the middle of curve... especially if you are leaned over.

i just dont blip the throttle in a curve... do what you want, but what you are asking makes more sense after seeing Hong's link. most people asking about "bliping the throttle" are referring to clutchless upshifting, thought that is what you were asking about.

Re: blip?
I usually blip approaching the turn to so i can slow down enough while staying at a good rpm level. I don't think you want to consider blipping while leaned over, I don't think you want to consider doing too much while leaned over cept for holding your line.

Re: blip?
Try a riding or race school, it will do ya a lot of good!
I usually 'blip' the throttle more on downshifts than upshifts.

Re: blip?
Blipping the throttle is rev matching . You should be in the right gear before you get into the turn , so no you shouldnt be blipping the throttle in the turn . If your bike is going faster when you blip the throttle then your clutch is not disengaged or pulled . The only thing that should jump is the rpm's . Yes your doing it wrong . You only rev match or blip downshifting .

Re: blip?
alritee then. bak to the drawing board. i meant blipping before the turn . after i downshift, my rpm revs high and lurch forward and i end up pulling on my brake harder. how can i smooth this situation out?

Sounds like your reving to high , its just a quick blip to help the engine speed match the tire speed . Hard to explain . quick enough to make the rpm jump say 1000 rpms or so , Pull clutch , slight twist of the throttle , down shift , release clutch . All this happens in a second or 2 .

Re: blip?
Practice slow and get a feel for rev matching. If you get it right, you'll hear the gear change, but not feel it.
If you haven't already, take a look at the how much the engine speed changes between each gear, and you'll know how much to blip the throttle. It just takes practice.
