I have a parkinglot to practice slow cornering and figure 8's and such , but I just got pulled over on an out of town country hwy doing 120+ (lucked out with no ticket). I REALLY don't want to get a crapload of tickets, but since I got my bike on Sept. 5th Now is OCT 8th and I have 2300miles and have been pulled over 2x. I just plain don't have the restraint to do the speed limit, and I want to increase my skills. I still have like 1/2" chicken strips........cause I am chicken. However, I know I can learn to corner properly with practice. Where do you all go to do that?
track days are the only legal place really...i learned on the dragon, cherohala skyway and devils triangle here in tennessee, but tickets could be around any corner.
+100 the track is the place and you'll soon be addicted!

Trackdays is your answer. The unfortunate part about Western Washington is that there's only one track you can go to and its Pacific Raceways in Kent. The only other ones I know of are Spokane International Raceway on the other side of the state or Portland International Raceway in Oregon.
I only did one trackday there while I was visiting my parents. It's a fun track to ride at... except for that down hill set of turns
You might want to check out these guys. They have a class room period to teach you the techniques followed up by some track time http://www.2-fast.org/index.php My mom's BF took that class and really learned a lot. Just remember to ride within your limits. Learn the techniques before you start pushing your limits.

CA Superbike School is a good place to go but the OP is in Western Washington. Its still quite the drive to attend the closest school (Infineon Raceway/NorCal).

Infineon is only about an hours ride for me, got any more info on that school or a link?

lol, funny shit. I meant do you have any experience there? Have you ridden on that track? I go up there every year for the indy races and always thought it would be a blast to get on that track. Didnt know they did motorcycle classes though. The only school I knew they had was the mini indy cars and those look like they would be fun as hell

Tracks usually don't run the school... most trackdays or advanced riding schools are run by another company and not the track owners. Trackday organizers or advanced riding schools (like CA Superbike School and etc...) just rent the track.
To answer your question... no I have never ridden at Infineon (Sears Point).
What part of Washington are ya from? There aren't many choices up here in Washington. I haven't tracked my bike at Pacific Raceways yet, but I've been there with my car for the drag strip and been around the track. It's a fun place but I don't like chunky cracked bumpy pavement that is known as Pacific Raceways. I hear they are revamping some time soon. The only decent tracks in the PacNW are in Oregon. In face this track looks like fun: http://www.oregonraceway.com/
You could always safely ride around High Bridge Road / Snoqualmie Valley Road. I do not recommend going balls out because it's a public road but it's out there and has some nice turns to get use to and there isn't much traffic there.
