Re: R.i.p gixxer chic
From another site.....
This is what was posted on the Chic Riders forum...
Details...
she was riding to work friday evening, she was in the left lane following a car.. this car slowed down, and Lynsley changed lanes to get around it. There was a car turning across the lanes. Neither she or the driver saw each other and she impacted the vehicle.
She was thrown over the car. She never saw it coming.

Re: R.i.p gixxer chic
You know, I fear that type of accident the most -- where you just don't see it coming! There are times when I take a calculated risk and think, "this could cost me... I know better..." and then there are times when I look 4 or 5 times before that lane change, or burst of speed to get out of a sketchy scenario, or whatever and hope that I haven't missed that one car that could end it all. I also wish the best for those who survived her and loved her...

Re: R.i.p gixxer chic
She also had a 8-9 month old baby. i get asked all the time you have children and still ride or you ride like that? i always reply i don't want to Regret anything I did or did not do. I also want my kids to not be afraid to take chances and pursue what they love. So yes not only do I still ride but I ride KNOWING that if something happens they would understand. I like to think it’s a quality I have instilled in them

Re: R.i.p gixxer chic
that's terrible. R.I.P.
Here's a tip on what I think to be a safer technique, not anything to do with what she was doing, but I always do this now: Instead of inching up to the very front of the pack at stop lights, I stay back at least one or two car lanes. This puts the cars in front of me as a shield to people who are going to run red lights through the intersection. I also make sure there's a few cars behind me, that way if someone slams into the back of a vehicle at a stop light, it's not directly into me. And when there's only one car in front of me at a light, and none behind, I'm constantly looking in that mirror on the lookout for drivers speeding up behind me. My 2 pennies...
