Re: Crashed my K9 thou at friggin' 7mph!!!!
Yep you guys are right, they are gonna total it. DAMN IT!!! They are gonna pay $10k and I will still owe $2800. I wonder if they would be willing to give the money to ME so I could replace the bike? I mean I am fine with the loan, so I don't need to pay it off early. Why couldn't they just give me the dough? I am sure I am just pissing in the wind, but what do you think?

Yep... pissing into the wind. Technically you never owned the bike. The bank did. Pay off the $2800 and move on. Next time you might want to pick up GAP insurance with your loan. It would've covered that $2800 gap...

Re: Crashed my K9 thou at friggin' 7mph!!!!
Sweeet!!! Talked the insurance into covering it, and I have the bike back now with new yoshi trc-d's a pcv powercommander and a short throttle body mod. I couldn't be happier. It was a matter of not giving insurance the release to deal with the bank and calling every single day talking to them saying "I know there is a way we can do this to where all parties are happy" and finally they broke. I still have a limp , but you can't see it at 100+ .
I did learn one lesson and that is to treat this monster with the respect it deserves at ALL speeds......even ...7 friggin' mph :S ...what a dork . It looks sweet and has noticeably more power from 3rd gear on. If I lay it down again I won't be able to look at myself in the damn mirror. I am hooked on that bike like crack.

Re: Crashed my K9 thou at friggin' 7mph!!!!
Sorry to hear that. Dont feel bad, you had lots of conditions stacked against you. I too struggle with some of those low speed sharp turns, and end up having to put my feet down to control the bike. Only from a dead stop though, like you pulling out of a parking lot etc. Hope your back up and riding soon.

Nobody asked, so I had too. What kind of motorcycle specific boots were you wearing that alowed you to sustain such a bad injury?

Re: Crashed my K9 thou at friggin' 7mph!!!!
....blurg to tell the truth, I was wearing soft leather hiking boots. However since the accident I have being shopping for good riding boots, but OMG are they gay lookin' ....the cheapest ones I would be ok wearing were over $300 at the cycle shop. I have found some in the magazines I can order though.
I do however wear a riding jacket and good gloves, and now I have some shoes with very solid hard soles, but they are still low.

Re: Crashed my K9 thou at friggin' 7mph!!!!
I was mostly actually looking at the ones that looked protective ....yet not 'festive' , and then the price . I never looked at brands at all. Can you lead me towards some quality gear?
Man I have been back on the bike for a couple months now, and I still can't believe that here in the USA if I have the money I can go buy that thing w/o showing some sort of training certificate.
I have really learned that even though I am over 6'3" and 250lbs a gsx-r 1000 ain't no friggin' joke!!! After the accident I had them put in some yoshi trc-d's and got rid of those god awful stock cans. I also had a powercommander installed and got the throttle throw shortened down. It really wants me to go fast on it, and I try as hard as I can to not give into her, but it's hard not to listen sometimes and twist the grip a little.
Man, if I don't make it into 2011 at least now w/o laying it down again.....I won't be able to look at myself in the damn mirror. This bike is so fun and easy to ride, but it's demonic in it's power. Even though it's not close to my first bike...it's my first bike in this league which is way the hell up there, and ppl should really think about if they need something this damn godly.

i got my last R-1 cheap cheap cheap from a guy that that felt the same way you do.
Look at Sidi and Alpinestars for good quality boots that dont have a hideous styling to them imo..well except for the one boot sidi made...i feel like i should be holding glow sticks in the middle of a rave when i look at those damn things
