Been a while! Pics of my Evo IX
Well I virtually havent been on here in forever. I never got to ride my gixx all summer because of all of the terrible weather we had. I put probably less than 300mi on all summer, which says a lot considering I put on about 8000+mi in one season of riding.
I had a Trailblazer SS that I got last January...well that was gone in June. When I first got it I thought it was so awesome, Id never owned a V8 vehicle before. Then, I went and got an intake and a tune for it...and ran a 14.3 at 96mph. I said ok fuck this is gonna be a waste of time and money. I always loved Evos so I started looking for one and found a perfect condition Evo in CT for sale with only 27,000 mi. I went to look at it, and it was perfect, I sold my SS, and a week later I had the Evo.
Its lowered, cammed, and has a few boltons on the stock head, block, ecu and turbo at 30psi with meth. It had a bunch of boost leaks that took me a while to get sorted out, I had to take the intercooler to have the lip rounded back out because it was badly bent from someone trying to pry off a silicone coupler with a screwdriver. Had to buy a few new silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps and get rid of the leaky OEM bov (which can not hold that much boost for its life) and the car is now perfect with no more leaks. I am replacing the transmission and clutch though from the stock 6spd to a built 5spd and a twin disk clutch, most likely a quartermaster. I painted the wheels myself too, they were the same color as the car and I wanted to break it up a bit. Its semi-gloss black engine enamel. I plan on doing a few things over the summer and getting the car retuned by a shop in Rochester which holds the stock block record for quickest and fastest Evo in the world at 10.0 at 142. My goals for the car are 130+ traps around high 10 et's on a street tire with no additional weight reduction on the stock block, head and ecu.
This car is the most incredible car I could have ever asked for, Ill never get back into a V8 again. This thing takes turns solid as hell, goes quick, stops quick, drifts with ease, and its very light for a 4 door (stock they weigh just under 3300 curb weight, mine is a bit lighter around 3180 without me) and I can fit all of my hockey equipment in the trunk. Seeing the look on peoples faces after you beat them in a 4 door, 4 cylinder car is just too special to me hahah. Heres some photos I took of it.

LOL typical answer. Sound...who the hell cares about sound?? I want my car to perform, not just SOUND like it should perform then go nowhere cause its over 2 tons and has the aerodynamics of a barn.
Potential for power eh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efAOLl-MIWA 9.0 at 159 in a full interior, street driven Evo with street tires. The turbo isnt even a large frame turbo and it ran those times, its a 3586R and the car made 635whp when it ran those times.
This car however http://www.amsperformance.com/j_bergmeier.php makes even more power than the car in the video does (939whp and 600wtq and is another daily driven Evo)
Youre the kind of guy thatll probably argue this with me till your eyes turned red and youve smashed your keyboard to pieces. So Ill stop here. Thanks for your concern though.
One last video to get the gears spinnin and help you realize, "hey...perhaps I should think about what SvenDiesel told me about Evos before I get one day while Im out for a cruise in my Chevelle."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miNoz8rxmCs
The whole video is cool as hell its a bunch of high power cars, like a NOS/Ported Cobra, SC Viper, a Vette, and a KB Cobra racing, but starting at 6:48, "The Evo Bridage" section begins. Which turns into a few Evos coming along and raping the same supercharged Viper, Ported/Nos Cobra, 402 Vette, and built motor Kenne Bell Cobra. How can a built motor/KB Cobra get beaten so badly by a 2.4L Evo? The Kenne Bell itself is bigger than the entire motor on the Evo!
What happened to that "potential for power" thing you mentioned? Interesting, isn't it.

Re: Been a while! Pics of my Evo IX
I do miss the SS on rare instances. It was comfortable. I had big plans for it, cam, headers, fast intake mani, RPM stg 5 trans with a 3600 stall, and definitely wanted to slap a supercharger on it at some point...then it hit me, Ill spend roughly around $10,000 to run a mid 12 at no better than 115. That much money into an Evo will net mid 10s at 140+.
The funny part was just after I sold my SS and got the Evo, my first race was against a kid with ALL of the above stuff I mentioned on his SS...he claimed he put down so much power he broke the dyno. My friends and I laughed, so we asked him if he wanted to run and we did..I had him by bus lengths. I said to myself wow talk about making the right decision.
