Re: 2009 gixxer 1000
I was really expecting or even hoping they would be bringing something a little special or maybe totally far out extreme, and what happens??? they throw something that is still butt ugly... A total downer.

Re: 2009 GSXR 1000
Why do we still keep talking about the pipes?
Given that Suzuki is given an almost unworkable combination of noise and emission restrictions for a sport racing bike, I think they did an OK job. I sincerely doubt they built this bike, or any GSXR, and said "now, it could only be better if we made some giant pipes for street use".
What Suzuki did was produce a glorious set of 4 into 1 titanium headers that ends in 40 pounds of steel, catalytic converter, and "legal" cans. For less than $500 you can remove everything up to the titanium and put on whatever you like.
For me the best option would be to be able to buy the bike with NO pipes (or wheels). Given that my attic now has 40 lbs of catalytic converter and pipes taking up space, nothing Suzuki put on the bike, and still kept the emissions people happy, would be "good".
The shapely utilitarian pipes included serve a purpose. They were meant for street use and they were designed to be removed. I think they did a nice job.

Re: 2009 gixxer 1000
everyon knows that auto companies have tons of federal mandates and redtape to sort thru, but ugly pipes are ugly pipes, facts are facts. honestly tho, I don't think people are as pissy about the pipes as they are pissy about the cat being welded on now!
oh btw....welcome

Are they welded on now?
Thanks for the welcome. I thought I had posted here before.... I'm trying to cut back on the writing and do more riding!

Re: 2009 gixxer 1000
I actually saw this bike in Daytona at Biketoberfest and it is unbelievable. These pics and other pics do no justice to this bike. I am sold and am trying to line things up to buy one now as soon as it is released or beforee it is released if at all possible.

well technologically i reckon it is just as advanced as all of its predecessors but then what about the fact that it weighs so much more compared to the older models?

Showa Big Piston Forks... fewer moving parts, weighs less, and these are the same forks that Suzuki ran on their bikes in the Suzuki 8 hour race.

Re: 2009 gixxer 1000
"Using a button now located on the left handlebar control module, the rider can instantaneously switch between the three available maps, which are designated A, B and C as displayed on the instrument panel. " In the picture right near this text theres clearly a button for this that is on the right handlebar LOL...I have an 08 750 that has it , so i know its there, and changing it to the left handlebar wont work as it would interfeer with the singalling button.

Re: 2009 gixxer 1000
There is a button under the left handlebar also and it has the word down on it. When I saw this bike in person at Biketoberfest in Daytona I asked the Suzuki rep about it and what he said was that it was for the air/fuel maps..... the buttons on the right handle bar were for the ingnition retard or something like that....If that is true this will be one bad bike....
