Re: 2.0 Mile Road Course in Central Arkansas
We found out that the guy has already put a lot of time and money into the front end of this. He has secured 325 acres with great interstate access. He has gotten the blessings of the Corp of Engineers and the EPA.
The land will cost $1 million and another $1 million per mile of asphalt. Don't ask me why its so high, but I think it has to do with longevity. Cheap out on the track surface and it will crumble. Then nobody will want to come ride.
Since we are not multimillionaires, the bankers will want assurances that they will be paid back. It will take at least 100 members at the basic rate paying regular dues just to service the debt. Regular guys doing track days and driving schools should take care of extra expenses like insurance.
We all came away from the meeting excited that this can become a reality. And this is not a bunch of snooty rich guys wanting a private playground. These are real motoring enthusiasts. They know that it has to be motorcycle friendly and are getting input from m/c racers. Bottom line, in such a small market, it will take everyone working together to make a go of it.
