Re: 16 yr old dies
16 year olds arent allowed anything high performance over here wether cars or bikes obviously for areason he may have been riding for most of his life but 16 isn't mature enough for a bike thats capable of 175 kph in 1st gear reguardless of this fact

some parents let their kids ride their bikes. Some kids have been on motorcycles since birth and it's in their family everywhere. If you have the experience and skill why not??? It's only life. Might as well have as much fun as you can while you're here.

Because IMO 16 yr olds are not mature enough for a 1000 cc bike. You say "it's only life" like it can be replaced, it can't.

but they're mature enough for a WRX STI? I don't see any complaining about that. 16 year olds die all the time from doing stupid shyt in cars like street racing. What's different between bikes besides maybe a higher risk factor? I've seen kids on CRF450's get paralyzed or killed. And don't even get me started on parents buying their kids 700cc quads.

And yes, Star, it is only life. And the minute you start telling me that it's fragile and can't be replaced is the minute you hang up your Arai helmet for good.

Re: 16 yr old dies
I'm with Knox stunting or not, it don't matter to me the only fact I retain is that he was doing 100mph in a parking lot..
Not the safest thing to do stunting or not.
Anyway I still feel bad for his friends and family...
RIP

Re: 16 yr old dies
I have seen some 16yr olds that could handle an R1 or cbr1000, but their names are nicky hayden and john hopkins. both of them started AMA pro racing at the age of 16. But that's like 1 percent of all riders, so in my mind if the kid was that good on a bike then he would have been racing or doing something professional with bikes, not in a school parking lot going 100mph. I think the laws in the USA aren't hard enough on new riders to our wonderful life, My thoughts are we should be more like the rest of the world and beginner riders shouldn't be allowed anything over 600cc if that high.
Just my 2 cents, but kids should start off small and work their way up.

Re: 16 yr old dies
I agree that you should make the most of life while you have it but also don't limit it because you wanna do something that is plain stupid. This kid was his parents' only child. I know that at 16, I was a good mature kid but I was not responsible to handle ANY fast vehicle. I'm 25 now & have 2 "fast/powerful" turbo's cars and my 750R, If I would have had any of my current vehicles back then, I would prolly not be here now.
You can be a great rider at any age, but being mature & responsible enough to know the outcome of your actions only comes with age.
My heart goes out to his family.

Re: 16 yr old dies
well it's his life, he chose his own destiny. He was old enough to know the consequence.
