16 yr old dies
saw this on another fourm. only 16, stunting and on a R1. the 3 don't mix. my prayers go out to his family. R.I.P
RIVERSIDE A 16-year-old Riverside boy doing stunts in a high school parking lot crashed his new 2008 Yamaha R1 motorcycle into a classroom building, and died a short time later, Riverside police said Sunday.
Coroner's officials identified the teen as Austin Lee Allen, 16, of Riverside.
Riverside police Sgt. Dan Reeves said the motorcycle rider was initially believed to be a student at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, where the crash was reported at 7:22 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses said Allen was riding the Yamaha alone in a parking lot at the
School, in the 9300 block of Wood Road in the south Riverside area of Woodcrest, according to police and coroner's accounts of the crash.
Allen was doing a variety of high-speed stunts when he lost control of the Yamaha and crashed into the classroom, Reeves said. Allen was wearing a helmet, but he was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m. at Riverside Community Hospital, Reeves said.

Re: 16 yr old dies
R.I.P. even taking precautions, fiding a lone parking lot, and wearing gear...it can still happen and get ugly fast. reminds me not to take life for granted, b/c you just never know when your card will be pulled.

Re: 16 yr old dies
maybe he had been riding bikes for a few years. Some kids start riding at like 13. He might have been capable of handling the R1 u never know. Some kids are huge at a young age . . .
rest in peace.

Re: 16 yr old dies
Sad story . It is not only the young ones who get hit. An old friend of mine was out last summer riding his racebike where he would teach the young guys how to ride a bike. He used to go roadracing back when he was young and he was pretty good/fast. But now he ended up crashing and is in a wheelchair. He should have shown the new guys to drive safely.

Re: 16 yr old dies
Read it in the local paper. His father said that he had been riding his whole life and was an experienced rider, but says son was not doing tricks before the crash.
"Witnesses said Austin was going more than 100 mph when he lost control, couldn't turn in time and smashed into a white stucco wall..."

Re: 16 yr old dies
Damn, Dangles, how can you post such a serious and sad story with that new avatar...?!?!?!?
Sad about the 16-year-old... I agree with Knox, tho, that the facts don't quite jive -- who stunts in a parking lot at over 100 miles per hour?

Re: 16 yr old dies
Father contradicts himself in the story I posted.
"The father of a Riverside teen disputes initial reports that his son Austin Lee Allen died while performing stunts on his new motorcycle"
"Was he doing high-speed turns? Yes. Did he pop a wheelie? He might have. Were there single tracks with burnout? No. When I saw the tire marks, I saw no sign of high-speed stunts."

Re: 16 yr old dies
Well I would never stunt an R1..maybe if you've had the bike for years but who needs all that power to stunt anyways...maybe a 750 but wow thats to much power for stunting.
