This makes me sad... I paid $600 for mine the day it came out, and also only got a 60gb hdd with it. And mine's huge and not slim

I didn't jump on the PS3 because it was over $400. But this price drop makes it and money from selling the Wii makes the PS3 tempting... at least for me.

that’s bullshyt there not ps2 backwards compatible but do support ps1 games.. wtf? Even xbox games can be played on the 360 with a patch downloaded

we have a wii but cant seem to find any real good games compared to my 360. the kids love it though.

Yeah it's definitely ghey that they don't support PS2 games, especially if you have a lot of them... guess I'll be trading them in to Gamestop

My wife likes the Wii but I'm not impresses with the game lineup. Most of Wii's games are targeted for casual gamers or kids.

^^^ first gen ps3 do support ps2 games but i think they downgraded the engine to sell it for cheaper. ps3 does not have a BIG game line up yet like the 360 but in time they should catch up..i have all the systems ps1 , ps2 xbox ,360 , wii, DS , DSI, ECT... but would get a ps3 just for the blue ray function for a while it was the cheapest blue ray out and still able to play games.. shyt its on

Plus lets not forget there is usually a race to market. So they release the product as soon as they get a stable manufacturing process(and sometimes before), well before they start refining their design.

+1 to that...

Manufacturers don't make any money when they first release new console systems. Once they recoup the cost and start making profits then they start slashing prices and usually around that time the technology matures where they can make the consoles with better technology (i.e. lower power consumption, smaller circuit boards, more powerful processors in a smaller size. etc...).

When the first PS3 came out (2006), most computer manufacturers were using the 90nm die when making their processors. Three years later they are now making them on 65nm die (some already using the 45nm).

Well they've came down to cheapskate prices now I guess it's time for me to buy one! I haven't bought a game system since the xbox came out! (Not including the wii) I got one for the family about 2 months ago. I have wanted one REAL BAD but couldn't justify buying one!
